FAQ

Q. Do I have to ask if I can join The Kings Arms Knitters?

A. No!  Just come down to the pub and join in, the more the merrier.

Q. Is it free to attend?

A. Yes it is free to attend but as we meet in a pub we tend to buy a drink.  The Kings Arms has a varied range of ales, teas, coffees and food to choose from.

Q. Do I have to be really good at knitting or crochet before I come along?

A. Not at all. You don’t even have to have needles and yarn, we have some spare that you borrow to practice. Really, you don’t have to be any good. People ask us this a lot. We will help you to get good. We are people who love our craft and want you to love it too. We like teaching people.

Q. I want to have some needles and yarn before I start but I don’t know what to buy. Can you help?

A.4mm needles won’t be a waste of money as you’ll use those a lot. Get any yarn that says it is double knitting. Marie likes to start people on 6mm needles and chunky yarn as your knitting grows quicker and you get the feeling you are getting somewhere. Ask your yarn shop if you are in doubt.

Q. Do you knit for charity?

A. We are primarily a social group of knitters and crocheters who do our own projects but we have done charity knitting in the past and try and do something every year, usually for Christmas.  Feel free to bring your charity knitting with you.
